Finger to Fire

I know I haven't blogged in almost a month, so I decided that I would share with you a random story of today.

Today I was making our lunch, Shepherd's Pie, while my mom was running some checks at the church office (for those of you who are wondering why I'm home during the day, I'm homeschooled).  Anyway, I had asked my sister to make the instant mashed potato topping for the pie while I finished up the rest of the meal.  I was standing at the sink where I had set down my recipe card while turning to make sure I had turned the off the burner on which I had the meal cooking.  I should not have turned because instead of putting my hand down on the edge of the sink, I set my hand nicely on the burner on which my sister had JUST cooked the instant mashed potato; so, you know, it was still really hot!  Thankfully the sink is right next to the stove so I was able to run the burn under cold water right away.  Immediately after rinsing it, I grabbed an ice pack out of the freezer and basically held it to my hand for an hour or so as it was quite sore.  It's only a small first-degree burn on my finger but it was a feisty little thing, for the first minute or so I felt like my finger was on fire.  It's fine now and will heal quickly.

Also, if you read any of my other blogs, please feel free to visit them as I have posted quite recently on all of them.  Just click on my profile and you will get the links.  Have a great night, and I hope to post again soon!
