Bible Verses to Live By

These are some Bible verses I love and think are great to live by.  We live in a world of danger and turmoil and life for the Christian is not supposed to be easy.  We need encouragement in these trying times and these verses I find to be very encouraging.  May we continue to press on toward our goal, our sole purpose - to glorify God and enjoy Him forever (from the Westminster Catechism).  I hope you find these verses encouraging and great to remember as we go through with our daily lives.

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and My Redeemer." - Psalm 19:14

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My Power is made perfect in weakness." - 2 Corinthians 12:9

"The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice." - Proverbs 12:15

"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." - Hebrews 4:16

"Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart." - Proverbs 3:3

"You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men." - 1 Corinthians 7:23

"Be still, and know that I am God." - Psalm 46:10

"Restore me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit." - Psalm 51:12

"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose." - Romans 8:28

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6

App Reviews

Hi!  Today I'm going to be sharing some of my own reviews for the apps and social media platforms I have.  I got this idea from my friend BloggerA, whose blog you may view at imagination16.blogspot.com.

Facebook.  I got Facebook about a month ago.  In case you don't know, Facebook is a social media that allows you to post things and chat with your friends.  You get friends on Facebook by searching for someone you know in the search bar (AFTER you set up an account, of course) and click on them.  It will say near the top of that person's page "Add Friend" which will send them a friend request.  And if they accept, there you go!  You also get to select your own personal profile and cover photos, which will make your account personal.  You can also customize who sees your profiles and posts.  If you don't have a Facebook account already, I highly recommend getting one!

Pinterest.  Pinterest is an extraordinarily fun social media, app, whatever you want to call it.  It allows you to collect things you like onto boards that you create.  You get to choose your own profile picture and write a paragraph of up to 160 characters about yourself.  You can also follow people you know who have Pinterest.  You can also follow topics and single boards.  Pinterest is very fun, creative, excellent and convenient!

Skype.  Skype is a social media which involves a WebCam (a WebCam is a camera that attaches to your computer and allows you to video call.  Many electronic devices have these built in.  Skype is a social media that allows you to video call people near and far, but you can only call people in your contacts, of course.  You can also just chat regularly with your friends by typing to chat.  I use it mainly to chat with missionary friends in Senegal.  Skype is excellent in so many ways!

Pandora.  Pandora is a music app that allows you to, of course, listen to music online.  You make an account and then begin to create albums.  You can select your favorite genres and artists and make albums out of them.  When you listen to an album that you've made, it will play songs from several different artists but it will all be the same genre.

Tidido.  Tidido is like Pandora, in that it plays online music.  On Tidido, after you make an account, you search for one of your favorite artists in the search box.  Not only can you listen to just one of their songs online, but their entire albums as well!

Grammarly.  Grammarly is a wonderful grammar app that you install in your web browser.  For browsers I use Mozilla Firefox and Internet explorer - I have installed Grammarly in Firefox.  The whole purpose of this app is to catch errors you type while writing something online.  When you're writing any place on the Internet, Grammarly will automatically catch any errors you make online.  I am using Grammarly the very minute this is being typed.

Evernote.  I first discovered Evernote when a friend told me about it.  It's an writing app which requires you to make an account before you begin anything.  After you've joined, you can write things, save and edit them on this wonderful app.  I don't use it very often, but I highly recommend it for professional writers or those who enjoy writing.

Blogger.  Blogger (also called Blogspot) is the platform on which you are reading this blog right now.  For those of you who don't have an account, the whole purpose is to write posts and share them with the world.  If you've been wanting to start a blog but haven't yet, I highly recommend Blogger!

I believe that's all for the social medias and apps.  Please note that these were intended to be brief descriptions and that I am not posting tutorials on how to use these things.  These networks are all free.  If you think I should post more or less about one of these certain networks, please comment on this post or send me a message via the contact form. Thank you!

The Events of June 10

Not very much happened on June 10, other than my cousin got married!  Yes, she got married to the Applebee's guy who had to direct me out of Applebee's kitchen in March.  So anyway, it was a great wedding in a great church.  My cousin's sister (also my cousin, lol) was the maid of honor which was probably really exciting for her.  The wedding party was large, which was nice.  Even though there were sirens going by just about the while ceremony, the important thing is that it was centered around God.  We also enjoyed seeing my aunt, uncle and cousins who had come from Wisconsin for the wedding.  It was a family week for sure!

The reception was at a very nice country club.  They served great food and were great hosts, which honored the occasion even more.  I loved having a family picture taken with the bride and groom; my grandparents; my aunts, uncles and cousins and my household family.  After that there was dancing (including the first dance) and the wedding cake.  We left the country club at 11pm, I imagine well before the celebration ended.  The whole thing was great, and I loved it.

Now the newlyweds are on their way to Ohio to find an apartment.  My cousin will be attending vet school there hopefully next year, so they want to get settled and stuff before she begins that.  If they find an apartment they will probably move in as soon as they can.  I hear that Ohio residents have a much better chance of getting into this college than out-of-state residents, so this way they should be considered Ohio residents.

Congratulations my cousins!  I hope you enjoy what is to come as a married couple!

Welcome Back, You Inactive Blogger!

I'm back after I took a break from blogging for over a month!  My last post was published on May 27; it is now July 5.  A lot happened in the past month, which is basically why I've been gone for so long.  My cousin got married (first one to on my mom's side of the family) in the first full week of June.  At the same time my uncle on my dad's side was visiting for other purposes, and he left on June 17.  My father turned 50 last Monday and we had a small surprise luncheon party for him the day after.  My sister and I have been busy volunteering with setting up a Vacation Bible School program at our church (which will take place later this month).  I have also been keeping myself busy with Facebook and Pinterest, but now I'm back to blogging as well.

So those are the major events that took place since I last touched base over this blog.  I'll try to blog more often, but I can't guarantee it.  Sometimes I forget I even have a blog (or four!).  But I will try to share things with my readers more often!  Bye!
