Nature Photography!

I just found this neat picture that I took last spring on my computer.  Since I took it it's served as my Skype picture, briefly my Pinterest picture and also the picture on the e-mail me, two friends and my sister share.  So now it's time to let the world in on my secret picture!

One thing I really like about this photograph is its background.  The light purple lilac looks great with the wooded background and the scene is complete with the leaves dangling over the flower.  But the thing that really gets me is that God made this beautiful picture.  If it weren't for Him, we would have nothing and this includes the beauty of the earth that is ours to enjoy.  It also reminds us that God is our Creator and He has the power to do anything that He sees fit.  I also believe that this picture could serve as an excellent reminder that the world may look good (and by saying this I mean nature), but it's actually filled with evil, hate, crime and so many other acts of sin.  We must never think that this world is good, never.  Romans 12:2 ESV says, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."  This means that we obviously live in the world, but we should not be like the world.  So there's nothing wrong with admiring the earth's beautiful scenery and other natural wonders, but that is not what the world is like.  We may think we are secure every minute and that nothing bad will happen to us.  That's a big mistake.  As I said, there is a lot of evil on this planet.  So in closing, let us not worry about standing out from the crowd or what others think of us and just faithfully be set apart from the world.  Things will not always go well if we do this, but at least we will be doing what is right in the eyes of the Lord, which is to glorify him in all that we do always.

Snowball Smith!

Hi everyone!  Sorry that my blogs have been idle for so long, I've just been busy with school and other things.  I was sick Saturday-Sunday and really couldn't think of anything to share with you in an ill state.  But I'm fine now and would like to tell you about a hamster I got yesterday.  His name is Snowball (I'm still thinking of a middle name for him), so obviously he's white.  I was considering Snowflake as well but Snowball better suited him.  I was also thinking about naming him Powder but I felt that Powder didn't fit just quite with a male hamster (besides, 2.5 years ago our cat died, whose name was Powder).  What also helped in deciding against the name Powder was that I was 11 when the cat died and she had been around since well before I was born (my dad had her before my parents were married in 1998) so I was just used to Powder as being a name for a female animal.  Anyway, let me just say it will take me a little while to get used to him being mine.  The employee at Petco who got him out of the cage for me said that I would need to tame him a bit and she asked if I was okay with that.  I said I was.  A small part of the reason I still picked him is because he was the only hamster who had his own cage - all the other hamsters were in pairs or in sets of three, and I'm just not the person to separate them.  But I liked him especially otherwise so I still chose him.  He hasn't been out of his cage yet but he is adjusting to his new home and family.  He loves to run in his wheel and climb on the bars of his cage (he kept me awake with the running a good portion of last night).  Once he's used to his new surroundings I'll bring the cage out here during the days to let him be with us.  Once I can handle him I will put him in his ball and let him roll around on the floor.  I was also told that he'll grow some more so I have that to look forward to.  He is still very new to this house but he'll adapt quickly.  I'm looking forward to an excellent few years with Snowball Smith!

My 14th Birthday: February 6, 2016

Yesterday was my 14th birthday, as you saw in the title.  Let's just say it was one of the most interesting ones yet.  Why?  Let me tell you.

It all began when my sister and I stayed up through the night on Friday (yes, we like to do that sometimes and our first time was in November 2014 - we've done it ten times including then!).  The night was spent watching Little House on the Prairie & Dennis the Menace, playing Nintendo Wii and a bit of Uno, and much more!

I didn't get to have one surprise on my actual birthday due to my dad accidentally revealing my gift!  Anyway I still got that gift, it wasn't shipped back.  So my sister and I started playing that game but didn't finish - it's still spread out on our table!  I suppose that will make a great Sunday afternoon activity!

I finally turned officially 14 just after 3:30pm.  After then I spent a few minutes ranting on about how I couldn't believe I was already that ancient!

At 5:45pm we left to go to dinner at my favorite buffet restaurant that I was introduced to a couple of years ago.  But first, we went to Benny's for windshield wipers - a couple of ours had been broken with the ice and snowfall on Friday.  But when we got there I comprised my meal of calamari squid; clams; dinner rolls; shrimp, crab and zucchini; cheesecake, pudding and more!  I was even ironic enough to go to their fruits table and get some oranges....and lemons!  Yes, I love lemons plain and help myself to them every time I go to that restaurant!  When we were about to leave, I went into the bathroom to wash my hands and the place wreaked of cigarette smoke!  So I quickly turned on the faucet, did the best job I could with washing, dried my hands and ran quickly out of there and waited in the hallway for my sister who was also in the bathroom.  After I told my parents about the awful smoke smell we thought that someone had probably sneaked in there to smoke (there were signs that made it clear that no smoking was to be done inside the building).  Let's just say that the smell was so strong that I carried it home with me.

My birthday was concluded with a family game of Mario Kart on Nintendo Wii, and as well as my birthday it was my lucky day - I won!  But above all, I really enjoyed my birthday and I look forward to working on my 15th year, the year that is yet to come.

Pinterest!

Hi everyone!  This is just another post announcing that I have a Pinterest account.  On it you will find 23 boards featuring funny animals, recipes, beautiful scenes from nature and Christian topics - and better yet, much more!  I don't know whether you need a Pinterest account to do this, but I believe you can do it whether you have one or not.  If you have an account, search "csblogger" in the search box and you should come up with "Chandler Smith, Blogger."  I have put the word "Blogger" in my username as well as the address of this blog in the "About Me" section for your convenience so you can find me easily.  However, if you don't have Pinterest, go to www.pinterest.com/csblogger to view my page.  I'm not sure if you need an account to do that.  All right, if you decide to go there I hope you enjoy what you see.  Bye!

The Ups & Downs of February 3

Let me just say that today has been interesting.  Very interesting.

It all started when my sister wanted to do her schoolwork in my parents' bedroom.  Okay then, the room that's in the basement and my dad was working on finishing part of the basement.  Who knows why my sister, RhodeIslandBlogger, would want to be near the workscene but okay.

The sound of sirens will not escape my mind.  I live on the U.S. Route 1, one of the busiest streets in the state other than highways.  Having a fire station maybe 160-175 yards away from my house also contributes to that, but today was busier than usual for the fire department!  I don't know whether it was just a huge handful of little calls or a big fire or something, but my word there were so many sirens today!

It starts to pour and my tiger cat, Prince, insists on going outside and runs under one of the cars.  Smart kitty he is - not really.  He should've just stayed in.  Then he wanted to go out again about an hour later, and when he saw that it was still pouring he hid in the stack of wood we have on our porch.  Just stay inside cat instead of just going outside to get drenched!

The day was concluded at dinner when my dad checks his phone and says, "Ah, our Amazon order of Ticket to Ride Europe has shipped."  How unfortunate that this board game was going to be my birthday gift (my birthday is this Saturday, February 6).  Goodness gracious, that's never happened before!

Anyway, today was quite interesting and eventful and I enjoyed it.  Psalm 118:24 says "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."  So any day, eventful or uneventful, interesting or boring, it is best that we follow this holy guideline that God has given us through His Word.

Meditation of the Day: An Announcement

Hello readers!  Sorry I haven't posted a Meditation of the Day in several days.  I just haven't gotten around to it, and I feel hassled to be posting one every day.  Now don't get me the wrong way.  Like all day, if I don't post the passage at the beginning of the day, I have a nagging feeling all day, which screams, "Post it.  Post it.  Post it!"  I just don't want to feel like I have to share one every day, so things are changing.  There will no longer be a Bible passage shared every day, but I will share one every once in a while.  Also, I believe we will leave--at least take a break from--the Psalms and move onto the Proverbs, just because I feel like changing things up.  The passages, when I post them, will not be called the Meditation of the Day anymore, obviously, because they won't be posted every day.  Rather, I believe I will share a Proverb or, after we're done with the Proverbs, a passage once a week; these weekly passages will be called on this blog "The Holy Scripture for This Week."  Also, there's going to be much more posted than the Meditation of the Day on the blog because I know that's mainly what I've been posting lately and that Everything Imaginable! may not look too appealing with just the verses.  So please look at this blog and you'll find some good stuff posted.  The reason why I haven't posted much is because I can't think of much, so if you have suggestions please feel free to share them in the comments.  Thank you, and have a great day. - Chandler Smith, Blogger
